What we actually do

We work out what home energy equipment costs in Malta, what it earns under the tariff routes available, and how long it takes to pay for itself. Then we publish the working, with the assumptions attached and the sources linked, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

That includes the cases where the answer is no. A north-facing roof, a household that uses very little electricity, or a property being sold in three years can all make a system a poor decision. Nobody selling panels will tell you that, which is precisely why it is worth publishing.

Why the arithmetic sometimes costs us money

We are paid when someone asks to be introduced to an installer. Publishing the cases where solar is a bad idea reduces the number of introductions we make. We do it anyway, because a site that only ever reaches one conclusion is an advertisement, and an advertisement is not useful to somebody trying to make a fifteen thousand euro decision once in their life.
