Where the binding cap changes
Below it the €645 per kWp cap decides your grant. Above it the €3,000 ceiling does, so a bigger system stops earning a bigger grant.

Almost every page in Malta says the solar grant is 75% up to €9,000. For panels alone it is 65%, capped at €3,000.
The €9,000 only appears if you fit a battery at the same time, and the regulator does not print that number anywhere. On a €6,250 system the gap between the figure you have read and the figure you will pay is about €1,700.

The 3,000 euro per-system cap binds here, not the 65%. Above 4.65 kWp a larger system does not bring a larger grant.

The number nobody in Malta publishes
Two caps apply and they cross. Below 4.651 kWp your grant is decided per kilowatt. Above it, the flat ceiling takes over and extra panels add nothing to what the state pays.

Battery retrofit ended
If you already have panels, you can no longer get a grant to add a battery. Support survives only bundled with a new PV system.
What changedSince 2010
The lockout is household wide
If anyone in your household claimed a similar grant since 2010, nobody at that address can claim again. Not just the original applicant.
Who qualifiesWhy we publish the figure that costs us the introduction
We are paid when someone asks to be introduced to an installer. Telling you that landlords cannot claim, or that your household already used its grant in 2013, reduces the number of introductions we make.
We do it because a site that only ever reaches one conclusion is an advertisement, and an advertisement is not much use to somebody making a five figure decision once in their life.
